According to Fracis Barani a parent to a pupil who sat for lasts years’ KCPE they are being delayed and urged the government to act fast in bringing the teachers’ strike to an end, adding that it is already mid January yet their children have not known schools they are to join nor any process of selection have started.

“They are delaying us as parents and our children are forgetting about all that education entails, being that they left school months ago.

Currently the teachers’ strike is already wrecking havoc on the implementation of the school syllabus for the first term, and there are fears that the devastating effects could spill over to the entire three terms this year.

Instruction to continue with the strike from the KNUT and KUPPET officials comes in the wake of negotiations which are already underway to discuss union demands with the TSC and other relevant arms of government.

The parents however said they are optimistic that negotiations will bear fruit and therefore appealed to the unions to give dialogue a chance to end the stalemate, so that learning is not disrupted,”
