Uasin County Kenya Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) secretary General Elijah Maiyo has urged the national government to disburse free secondary schools kitty funds early.

He said this will ensure that the school calendar runs smoothly without any interference.

"The funds should be disbursed to secondary schools before the end of the year," he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.

"We commend the government for this noble course, the government should put a mechanism to ensure funds allocated per student is in the school account before the start of the term to enhance smooth learning," he added.

He reiterated that the program will increase enrollment rate of students to form one.

"This will be a big relief for students with poor background access education just like other students," he said.

He, however, urged Teachers Service Commission to employ more teachers for the free Secondary Education to be successful.

"If TSC will not deploy more teachers the program will fail due to increased students enrollment that will supersede the number of teachers," noted Maiyo.
