A new system replacing the 8-4-4 education has been unveiled.
Key among the changes is that the new system has phased out national exams in primary and secondary schools.
As opposed to the 8-4-4 system that focused on exams, the new system will dwell more on promoting competence and will emphasise more on the identification and nurturing of talents.
Instead of the national exams that were done after a long period of time and which determined the fate of the students, the coming system will rely on use of continous assessment tests locally set by teachers in schools.
It will use the 2-3-3-3-3 system that will see learners spend two years in ECDE, three years in lower primary, three in the upper primary, three in lower secondary and the other three in senior secondary.
