Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has appealed to the national government to allocate more funds to the tourism sector in Mombasa.
In his address on Wednesday at the Tononoka grounds during the Madaraka Day celebrations, the legislator said that the tourism sector contributes greatly to the Kenyan economy, thus the need to invest in the industry.
"Tourism remains one of the main foreign exchange earners for Kenya. It is a very important industry that needs enough investment. This is the reason why I am urging the national government to set aside more funds to the tourism sector," said Awiti.
Awiti further denounced the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) calling for its immediate disbandment.
"There is need for the current IEBC commissioners to go home to usher in a new credible team that can ensure a free and fair elections in this country," he said.
