Following mysterious death of two people from Mogusii village in Nyamira County in separate incidents last week, area residents have now called for 24hrs security surveillance in the region in bid to combat the incidents.
Speaking on Monday during the funeral of Mr. Lukas Moseti, a causality of the attacks in the region, they blamed the government for failing to respond in time despite continuous calls to affect the same.
They asked the government to further execute a radical surgery on provincial administration blaming the area chief and his assistant for failing to come up with strategies of containing the escalating insecurity.
“Security is a major concern here and everyone knows that we will bury another victim on Tuesday. We cannot continue burying our people yet the government has responsibility to protect us. They must deploy security personnel who will survey the place the entire day,” said Annah Ongaro.
“Our chief Peter Ondari and his assistant Kelvin Abuga must also be held to account. We want them sacked because they have failed to restore normalcy in our village. It’s no longer safe to be found out of your house as early as 7:30 PM,” added Mr. Cyrus Nyagwoka.
However, efforts of the area chief Mr. Ondari to speak in the funeral were futile as angry mourners shouted at him before ordering him to take his seat.
End.
