Ali says that criminal goons could take advantage of the heightening political temperatures and campaigns to advance their criminal acts.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the newly elected MPs induction being held in Naivasha on Tuesday, the former investigative reporter asked the Inspector General of Police (IG) Joseph Boinnet to deploy more security especially in areas considered as crime and violence hot-spots.
The Nyali lawmaker said that the country’s peace and stability must be maintained before, during and after the repeat presidential poll.
“I am urging the IG and other security agencies to beef up security and ensure that Kenyans are safe as they prepare for repeat presidential poll,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Ali at the same time called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to crack the whip on social media hate mongers.
He said that some pelicans are using social media to spew inflammatory words that he said could plunge the country into chaos.
The MP also called or calm and tolerance among politicians across the political divide. “We don’t have to fight or hate each other because of our political differences and affiliations,’ he said.
