Uasin Gishu Hawkers Savings and Credit Sacco Chairman John Wamwaki has urged the national government to channel the multibillion Youth, women and Uwezo Fund through saccos.
He said this will help boost their liquidity.
“If the national government will channel funds through our saccos, it will alleviate liquidity challenges experienced by many saccos,” he said in Eldoret town, Monday.
“Government should disburse the funds through Saccos since we have the right framework for ensuring they are put to the right use," he added.
He, however, urged Kenyans to join Saccos for them to be empowered financially.
"People have bridged the challenge of accessing capital by putting the little they have in Saccos and then take a loan and invest wisely,
"Through joining a Sacco one can be able to get a loan at a low interest easily since he or she does not need a guarantor," he said.
Wamwaki advised youths to use the money they loaned from Sacco by starting income generating projects that will help them repay the loan.
