The Chairman of Imams and Muslim Preachers Uasin Gishu County Abubakar Bini has urged the national government through the ministry of education to postpone the national exams due to the teachers' strike.
Speaking on Friday in his office, Bini said that students have lost a lot of time due to the teachers' strike, and are poorly prepared to face the exams.
“By not postponing the exams, it will really affect the performance of students in public schools, since compared to their counterparts in private schools, they have been continuing with their education while their counterparts are at home,” he said.
“I urge the government to consider such students by postponing the national exams for effective preparations by all students,” he added.
He further urged the president and his deputy to engage dialogue and ensure that the teachers' strike is ended once and for all, noting that students have suffered enough already.
Bini also noted that this might affect the children's future, especially those who will be forced to undertake exams without enough preparation.
This comes even after the government decided to close all schools; both private and public as the teachers' strike bites on.
