Nominated member of County Assembly Esther Njeri Magere now wants the government to create a kitty to help fistula victims. Magere cited that there has been increased cases of fistula in the area following cases of rape and defilement in Naivasha. She cited that majority of the people affected could not be able to speak up on the issue as it was embarrassing to them. “The condition makes one unable to control the bladder. As a result one often eases herself without control and hence cases whereby you smell of urine and defecation , which is uncomfortable, is common among them,” she added Ms Magere cited that there is need to create a self help group and direct some cash to them “Many often wrap themselves with old pieces of clothes and have to change regularly to avoid the bad smell. It’s often uncomfortable and cumbersome. We appeal to the government to provide them with adult diapers as a means of helping them,” she added Ms Magere also called on well wishers to help them acquire treatment “The condition can eventually be stopped. We are appealing to well wishers and hospitals to help treat many of this patients who cannot afford to pay for their surgery,” she added
