The government has been asked to deploy more police officers in Igonga division.
According to the division police boss Nicholas Omondi, insecurity in the region is on the increase and there was need of hiring more officers in the region.
"The ratio of policemen to that of the people is high reason we need more officers deployed here. That is how we can improve security in the area," he said.
He called on area MP John Oyioka to help in pushing Interior Cs Fred Matiang’i to deploy more security officers to the region.
Meanwhile, Omondi challenged members of the public to cooperate with the security officers to help in ending crime.
"The officers alone will not end crime if members of the public will not work with them. There is a need for the locals to volunteer information to the police to ease work for officers," he said.
"Nyumba Kumi officials in deep villages should also be vigilant and report crime in their areas of administration,” he added.
