Government urged to dialogue with teacher's union officials

Uasin Gishu CIPK   chairman Abubakar Bini has urged the national government to dialogue with teacher’s union officials to prevent the teachers looming strike set for January.

He said this will disrupt learning in schools leading to poor performances at the end of the year.

“We want to urge the National government through the ministry of Education to down with the teachers union officials and settle this matter once and for all. We want our students to learn and not to be sent back due to the teachers strike,” he said in Eldoret town, Thursday.

“The strike will impact negatively on the education standards thus the need to prevent it through dialogue. I also want to urge the Ministry of Education Cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi to always involve all stakeholders in coming up and enforcing new education rules and regulations,” he added.

This comes after the Kenya National Union of Teachers has threatened to go on strike come January 2018 if Teachers Service Commission will not cancel its mass head teachers transfer saying they were not consulted therefore the move is null and void.
