Motorists plying on Mombasa Road have called on the government to expand the road in a bid of easing the traffic alongside minimizing accident rates.
Speaking on behalf of the motorists, John Njoroge said the single lane road was hampering free movement of vehicles thereby leading to unnecessary traffic snarl-ups and avoidable accidents.
"This road is so narrow that drivers using it cannot overlap safely apart from engaging in risky overtaking whenever they are in a rush, this could be one of the reasons why there are increased accidents around this area," said Njoroge.
Njoroge who spoke to this writer on the road at Devki in Athi River town on Monday said the state should also tarmac the feeder roads along the highway as alternative routes for overtaking.
He said the roads which are along the highway are in pathetic condition adding that they are muddy and filled with water during this rainy season.
Njoroge said the government should hurry up and construct a dual courage way along the highway as a matter of agency to fix the problems that the motorists apparently go through while using the road.
