Government urged to help student who got D and below
The national government through the Ministry of Education has been urged to move with speed to address the plight of students who scored D plain and above.
Former Uasin Gishu county Assembly speaker Isaac Terer said out of 615,000 students who sat for KCSE 350,000 students got D plain and below which translates 53.85 percent.
"Such a huge number of D's shouldn't be celebrated. If we do so, then we shall be engineering an unbearable future problem that will be felt in the coming generations. I am not happy with this trend at all and something needs to be done urgently,” he said in Eldoret town, Saturday.
"The government should, therefore, make appropriate interventions to address this problem preferably through increased budgetary allocation and investment in vocational training centers like never before since we have few colleges that can accommodate such significantly huge capacity lest we condemn them to unrecoverable perpetual failure," he added.
He reiterated that the National government should ensure that the dreams of such youths remain valid notwithstanding the circumstances they are in.
"For those who got D and below, I encourage you that success is not final and failure is not fatal. It doesn't mean that life ends here. With focus, determination, and commitment you can still achieve what your dreams in life.
