Muthetheni MCA Jeremiah Munguti has urged the government to be releasing funds set for Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) in time especially those of health workers.
Munguti said this will avert frequent strikes by health workers thereby leading to work backlog.
The chairman of Labor, Public Service and ICT committee at the Machakos County Assembly said the funds are never rolled out in the budget.
He spoke to this writer at an exclusive interview in Muthetheni on Tuesday.
Munguti said the government signs CBAs with workers but never fulfills them hence demoralizing the workers who are dedicated to their jobs.
"We have witnessed the government signing CBAs with workers only to see them later striking and demonstrating since the money never got to the county's budget," Munguti said.
He promised Machakos county workers that the county will improve their working conditions as much as it can with those retired to receive their pension in time.
Munguti said he will ensure workers on contract will get letters of appointment on permanent and pensionable basis.
He urged them to perform their duties as required.
