The government should work closely with the community in matters of security, says Syokimau Residents Association’s Chairman Humphrey Odhiambo.
Addressing the press in Mlolongo town on Monday, Odhiambo said the joint support in curbing crime will improve security at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Syokimau Estate and it's environs.
“The government should work closely with the community in matters of security, we have Civil Aviation Installation within Syiokimau Estate bordering JKIA. The installation also requires security protection,” said Odhiambo.
Odhiambo said the airport fence should be electrified as opposed to its current ordinary wire mesh which has been vandalized by suspected thugs.
“JKIA fence on the side of Syokimau Estate has been severally cut by suspected thugs thereby compromising security in both the airport and the estate,” said Odhiambo.
He said the electric wire fencing should be done immediately to ensure the territories of Syokimau and the airport areas are well protected.
“We are exposing Syokimau residents to insecurity, thugs use the fence to access the estate, raid them as the airport is equally exposed to great danger,” said Odhiambo.
Odhiambo said police patrols should also be intensified around the area’s Civil Aviation Installation.
“The Civil Aviation Installation needs a serious guarding 24/07,” said Odhiambo.
