Garissa activist Zedi Mbadi has called upon the government to move swiftly to handle the two warring communities; the Somali herders and Borana herders.
This is after a retaliatory attack by Borana which left two Somali dead and two others injured over the weekend.
The activist says if the situation is not handled at its primary stages, it will break out into war between the two communities and this may be hard to control.
“The county government should address the issue urgently to prevent breakout of clashes. They should find a lasting solution to this culture of ethnic clashes,” she said.
She however condemned the attack on innocent civilians in the name of retaliatory attack.
“This is very unfortunate that one decides to kill innocent people who did not even take part in the attacks. The perpetrators should be brought to book,” she added.
She further called upon the county government to take action against the perpetrators of the attack.
Suspected Somali herders killed four people, and four others are reportedly missing during a raid, Borana herders retaliated killing two and leaving two others injured.
