The national government through the Ministry of Education has been urged to set up measures which will bring a solution to the ongoing debate of the closure of the 10 branches of Kisii University.

Speaking in Kisii Town on Monday, during a peaceful demonstration Kisii University students, general secretary of the union, Denis Gwaro, said that the national government needs to help them solve matters facing the university.

Gwaro asked the Ministry of Education to help the university since students have no peace of mind since the commission announced the closure.

''We have no peace in our minds since we heard this from the commission. We urge the government to come in so that they can help us understand what is going on,'' said Gwaro.

He added that they have been in the dark since that announcement was made and they are wondering what is going on in their university.

“We urge the national government to investigate this if there is any political interference in the matter. Please let it be stopped because you cannot mix education with politics,'' noted Gwaro.
