Kiambu Women Representative Ann Nyokabi has called for investment in the tertiary education sector to spur development of the education sector.

The women representative said that tertiary education will enable more Kenyans to access cheap and affordable education.

She said that the government must pump more in tertiary institutions that offer vocational training.

“Our tertiary institutions need more investment to enable more students who fail to join secondary schools and universities access education,” she said.

The Kiambu women representative also asked the government to consider providing bursaries to students joining vocational training centers.

She said that most of the students come from poor backgrounds hence the need for the government to sponsor them.

Meanwhile, Nyokabi wants the Education Ministry to exercise transparency in the ongoing Form One selection.

She said that there must be equality and fairness in the exercise and alternatives be provide for students who will miss out in the selection.

The Form One Selection exercise was launched on Tuesday by the Minister of Education.
