Moiben Member of Parliament Sila Tiren has called upon the national government through the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure farmers who deliver their maize are paid promptly.

He said it is sad that some farmers have not been paid yet they delivered their maize two weeks ago.

“I want the government to ensure they keep their promise of paying farmers within twenty-four hours after delivering their maize farmers are in dire need of the money to use it during this festive season,” he said in Eldoret town, Saturday.

“We want farmers to enjoy their sweat, we want them to up their game since they are doing contrary to what they said,” he added.

Tiren called upon the national government to put more funds to AFC for farmers to borrow loans that will improve their produce thereafter livelihoods.

However, the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Willy Bett promised farmers that they will be paid since the government has released sh 1 billion.

“We had some delays but everything has now been sorted out and farmers will get their payments on time,” noted Bett.
