The Funeral Homes Association of Kenya has urged the Government to ensure that it regulates the funeral industry so as to avoid the industry from being run and handled by people who are unqualified.
Benjamin Kibiku who is the Chairman of the Association yesterday said that tehre were very many funeral homes that are runned by very unqualified people.
Kibiku who was speaking in Nakuru town told the press that they have already identified 2 funeral homes that are in Nakuru and Naivasha and that are runned by personnel who are very unqualified.
"The main aim or reason as to why we are now urging the government to regulate this industry is to ensure that only people who are highly qualified gets the job.
"The funeral homes that we have identified in Naivasha and also here in Nakuru are not well equipped and the one in Naivasha was a rental house before it was converted into a funeral home. The one in Nakuru was a butchery and it now goes by the name of Uplands Funeral home", Kibiku said.
Kibiku went ahead and urged the Government to consider its decisions to remove the strobe lights from the hearses saying that the lights differentiates them from the other normal vehicles.
"I also urge the county governments to stop increasing the burial fees since the increase was affecting the industry", Kibiku said
