CCM party boss Isaac Ruto now wants government to stop the importation of maize from other countries saying it will be subjected to abuse to the Kenyan market.
He urged national government to give farmers subsidized farm inputs to boost food production in the country instead of seeking to destory market with imported maize.
"Importation of maize will open a window for unscrupulous businessmen to bring in cheap imports that would last several years thus will not favor common mwananchi", he said.
The Bomet county governor said that his CCM party will support a coalition in the upcoming polls that will increase funds to counties.
“CCM will support a coalition that pledges to devolve 45 per cent of the national budget to counties to spur economic growth and create employment opportunities for locals,” Ruto stated.
