The call was made by the area residents, led by Benjamin Mainge, who said the area has been a nightmare in terms insecurity, but the post has helped reduce the cases.

“Syiokimau and its environs faced lots of insecurity some time back, but improved later when the area MP Patrick Makau lobbied for a police post,” said Mainge.

Mainge, who was addressing journalists at the late former Moyale MP, Phylip Godana on Saturday, said it was unfortunate the area had been hit with insecurity again and life had been lost.

“Insecurity situation in Syiokimau went down when the police post was brought, but now it has again deteriorated,” lamented Mainge.

He called on the government to upgrade the post to full station, and equip it well with facilities and equipment to ease officers’ operations in fighting crime in the area.

Mainge told residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies in fighting crime to ensure the region was safe for all residents and their property.

Godana was shot dead by bandits in his Syiokimau residence on Friday night, and his body moved to Shalom Community Hospital in Athi River.
