Parents across Kisii county who do not take their children to school have until the end of March this year to do so as the government plans to deal with them as the law requires.
This comes after growing concerns and complaints over the number of children not going to school despite primary education being free thus the government has stepped in to stop the vice.
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony for Bombaba secondary school dormitory, Kisii Central ward administrator Charles Gekano cautioned residents over not taking their children to school adding that they will face legal action once apprehended.
He said it is a pity to see school going children roaming about, some involved in hawking and manual jobs while others engaged in criminal activities.
“We are giving you a grace period. If you do not take your child to school by March, we will come for you, arrest and charge you in a court of law,” he said.
Gekano said the government will also take tough measures on those who have a habit of luring young girls with cheap gifts and impregnating them.
He added that plans have been put in place by the county administration in collaboration with the children department to track those involved in those heinous acts adding that parents who support them will face the full force of the law.
