The media has been warned against releasing results of forthcoming Kenyan General Elections ahead of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
According to the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Director Francis Wangusi, the authority is aware of a plan by some media houses to release the results early.
“We are reminding media houses toying with the idea of releasing results ahead of IEBC to stop, IEBC is the official body charged with releasing the official results,” said Wangusi.
Wangusi further said his authority has put in place measures to ensure social media does not in any way cause anxiety during or after the elections.
“We are unlikely to shut down social media platforms but we are going to be very vigilant to flag off suspicious messages and handover authors to relevant authorities,” he added.
Different state agencies have been working tirelessly to deliver a credible election, among them the IEBC, the Security Agencies.
