[Photo: Nation]Garissa County governor Ali Korane has been advised to cancel all suspicious contracts that have been issued in the past three months.Speaking on Thursday from his office, Masalani Ward MCA Abubakar Mohamed said that most of the contracts that were issued by various county departments could either be illegal or they were issued irregularly.“We want all those who have been issued contracts to carry out various projects to countercheck with county government because the county government might fail to pay any wrongly issued contract," said the MCA.The governor had earlier said that the canceled contracts were issued by county executives and heads of departments without following the laid down procedures. He then asked the contractors to follow the matter through the office of the deputy governor."No contractor should go ahead and begin their work before getting directions from the deputy governor. All contracts shall be reviewed in his office," he added. Some contractors in the past blamed the county government for delaying payments for the projects they have already completed
