Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu emerged victorious in the Vihiga Amani National Congress (ANC) gubernatorial primaries.
He was declared the winner by the county returning officer Hussein Jama, Sunday morning.
Chanzu clinched the ticket after garnering 16,450 votes against his opponent Josephat Amadi's who got 13,386 votes.
The legislator is expected to contest with the incumbent governor Moses Akaranga of Progressive Party of Kenya, Dr Wilbur Ottichilo of ODM, Kennedy Butiko of United Democratic Party, and Helen Otolo who is an Independent candidate in the August 8 polls.
Beatrice Adagala was also declared the winner for the Woman Representative seat after garnering 50,412 votes beating her rival, Mary Amalemba, who got 8,400 votes.
The senator seat was not contested since the incumbent, George Khaniri, was issued with an ANC direct nomination ticket.
The nominations, despite being peaceful, were marred with delays in most of polling stations.
