On Thursday, Dr Alfred Mutua and his new deputy Francis Maliti have been sworn in as the governor and deputy governor of Machakos County.
According to results released by the IEBC Dr Mutua garnered more votes then his competitor Wiper candidate Wavinya Ndeti.
The swearing in ceremony made him the first of 47 governors to be confirmed after last weeks general elections.
The ceremony was overseen by Justice Lilian Mutende. The leaders also signed a certificate of integrity overseen by Ethics and Anti-corruption Commissioner Area Officer Michael Muvea.
"Some have accused me of destroying politics because of my good development projects. This competition was not between me and Wavinya Ndeti, sheis a very good lady. It was between me and Kilonzo Musyoka," Mutua said as reported by the Daily Nation.
He also stated that he is willing to work together with Wiper candidate Wavinya Ndeti.
Governor Mutua and his deputy have assured residents that they will work to develop the the county.
