Garissa county governor Ali Korane is yet to get the list of all county employees. Korane ordered the Garissa County Public Service Board to table a list of all employees, a day after he was sworn into office.

The Jubilee governor said, he wants to know the number of employees in the county in order to start serving the residents.

He claimed that the previous administration led by former governor Nathif Jama had several ghost workers who were receiving salaries illegally thus bloated the wage bill. Korane said, a staff audit will be done to ensure no ghost workers will serve in his tenure.

He accused former governor Jama for hiring workers illegally.

However, Jama denied the accusations and said all county employees were hired legally and through the County Public Service Board.

Jama dared Korane to sack employees saying the sacking the employees will breach their rights and they will seek legal help in court.

Korane of Jubilee party defeated Jama of Wiper party during the August 8 polls. Jama has filed a petition at Garissa Law court challenging Korane's win.
