Post Election Violence (PEV) victims facing eviction from a piece of land in Borabu Constituency have appealed to Governor John Nyagarama to intervene in the matter.

Fifteen families who have been given an eviction order by a private citizen claim ownership of the land which is located near Amakara village.

Speaking during an interview with this writer on Friday, the PEV victims led by Felix Nyasani accused the initial owner of the land of defrauding them millions of shillings and subsequently failing to transfer the land's ownership to them.

“We bought this land in 2009 after we were displaced from Rift Valley following the post-election violence in 2008. We contributed as a team and paid six million shillings to Patroba Ogeto and he promised to honour a land transfer which he has since disputed,” said Nyasani.

According to them, they had received eviction orders signed by a Kisii Law Court and issued to Matutu police to effect it.

“We have been served with an oder to evict this land by mid November. We have not been given a hearing in court yet we are poor citizens who cannot even afford two meals a day. We now need the governor to help us solve the crisis,” he said.

He added: “The governor’s input will be fundamental. We have stayed here for six years and it will be catastrophic for us if we are evicted without receiving any compensation. We really need the governor to help us.”
