Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has called on the national government to employ more teachers for the free secondary education program to be successful. He said the current number of teachers was a drop in the ocean and cannot handle increased enrolment of students."More teachers have to be hired when the free education secondary school program is rolled out from January next year," he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday."When there is no fee that is paid in secondary schools, more people will opt to go back to class, even those who had dropped out owing to fee problems," he added. He reiterated that teacher to student ratio will be too big and unmanageable."We don't want a situation where one teacher attends to over 60 students. More teachers should be hired for students to get quality and not quantity education," he added. This comes after the Jubilee administration promises to role out free and compulsory Secondary Education come January 2018.
