Nakuru’s Mau-Narok residents have been asked to put their differences aside and work together towards socio-economic development.

Addressing residents on Wednesday at Mau Narok, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua said that unity of residents is critical towards realisation of development.

Mbugua said that locals have a responsibility to ensure they co-exist peacefully in order to contribute towards development of the area.

He said that residents are the people who should spearhead development by working with area leaders instead of engaging in an ending conflict.

“Mau Narok people should stop this unending conflict and work together for development,” he said.

The governor observed land injustices and political hatred are among core issues that cause conflict among the Mau Narok locals.

He said that his government is working towards promoting unity across the county with the move of spearheading development.

Mbugua cautioned residents against listening to some politicians who he accused of instigating hatred. He said that time for politicians to divide Kenyans is over and that locals should be wise and shun such leaders.

He at the same time called on youths in the area to work with elders and security agencies as they streamline security and peace in the area.

He said that youths have a role to play in matters security adding that it’s the only way that permanent peace will be realised.
