Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi has called on North Rift residents to rally behind President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 8 general elections.

Cheboi said the area has benefitted from President Kenyatta's leadership through multimillion-shilling road projects and urged voters in to turn out in large numbers to ensure the Jubilee candidate gets another term to serve in the country's top office.

“This government has done a lot for the North Rift. The best way to reward the leaders is to give them a second term,” Cheboi said on Sunday.

The Governor made the remarks when he led a team of politicians who lost in the Jubilee Party’s April primaries to drum up support for the reelection of President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Cheboi urged the youth to embrace peace and shun violence during the electioneering period.

"Our youth should know we are banking on them to ensure all our people vote. We want 100 per cent voter turnout in August,” said the former HELB boss.

Turbo MP Elisha Busienei appealed to locals to back Jubilee saying the communities in North Rift would be major beneficiaries of the free secondary education that JP has pledged to be effected from January 2018.
