Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto said that all those who will be caught having adopted a child without following the law will be arrested and prosecuted.

Ruto spoke on Friday at AGC Baby Centre which is situated in Ongata Rongai where he urged people to stop stealing children and instead visit orphanages and adopt children lawfully.

"I really wonder why people go ahead and steal children and yet they can just go to any orphanage and adopt children in a more lawful way. If you happen to know any person who has adopted a child in unlawful manner you should report it to the police so that they can investigate and find out if the child was stolen," Ruto said.

The AGC Baby centre houses 58 children who are between the ages of one day to 3 years.

“I call upon all well wishers and donors to help the orphanages that we have around since they all depend on us for their maintenance. The county government is doing all it can to ensure that all the needs of children in the orphanages are catered for," he said.

Ruto further said that with the passing of the supplementary budget, the county was going to witness a number of projects which had initially stalled due to lack of funds.
