Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has called on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to talk with teachers to end the strike.
Speaking at the county headquarters on Friday, Mbugua said that TSC has the responsibility to talk with teachers and end the strike.
He said that TSC is taking too long to address teachers concerns which he said is affecting students,
“The Teachers Service Commission should move with haste and talk with teachers over the ongoing strike,” he said.
Mbugua said that teachers’ issues are real and should be addressed so that learning can continue in public schools.
Mbugua on the same not urged teachers to embrace dialogue with the government so that their issues can be discussed.
The governor said that education sector is crucial and that it should not be interrupted. “Teachers should embrace more dialogue for the issues to be tackled,” he added.
Meanwhile, the governor said that the county government will support students who performed well in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
Mbugua noted that county is keen to promote education standards and make it accessible to the people.
He said that plans are ongoing to supply students in Early Childhood Education Centres (ECDs) with learning materials.
Mbugua also said that the interests and welfare of ECD teachers will be listened to and addressed so as to boost education standards.
