The Governor complained that many youths in Eldoret town are idling when they should be taking part in development.

He said that the county has money which is meant to empower young people yet they are not applying for the funds.

“Uasin Gishu youths should come out and apply for development funds instead of idling in estates and villages,” he said.

The Governor noted that the young people have a role to play in development adding that they should utilise the skills for the better of the society.

He said that the county government will remain committed to empowering women, youth and people with disability.

Mandago further encouraged youths, women and people with disability to seek tenders with the county.

He observed that the county has received very few tender applications from the youth and women together with people with disability.

The governor noted that they have a directive to ensure that 30 per cent of tenders are given to youth, women and persons with disabilities.

Mandago assured residents that he will work towards programmes that will improve the livelihoods of Uasin residents.
