Opponents of gubernatorial candidate Mohamed Mahamud (Jubilee Party) claim he holds a degree certificate fraudulently obtained.

Mahamud, is said to be facing arrest in Uganda after it emerged he got a degree certificate under unclear circumstances from Kampala University.

However, Abdirahman Abdille- the man said to be pushing for Mahamud’s prosecution on Wednesday disowned an affidavit he allegedly swore saying his signature was forged.

Four legislators- Aden Keynan (Aldas), Mohamed Ibrahim Elmi (Wajir East), Mohamed Elmi (Tarbaj), Ibrahim Saney (Wajir North) now blame Governor Ahmed Abdullahi of sponsoring the affidavit with the objective of discrediting the Jubilee candidate.

Abdille in the said affidavit claimed that Mahamud never graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Kampala University in 2012.

“My ID number was used but the signature is not mine. It is upon the investigating agencies to establish who the imposter is," Abdille said on Wednesday at a press conference. The four MPs and Abdille called on security agencies to investigate the matter.

“The propaganda was meant to defame me and my candidature. The aim is to cause political tension between two Wajir clans,” Mahamud on his part said.

Keynan accused Andullahi of having sourced for Abdille’s ID allegedly to facilitate his nomination for a seat through the opposition ODM party.

“The governor ended up using Abdille's particulars to forge the affidavit. We want the EACC and the DPP to unmask the imposter and the real person behind the forgery of Abdirahman Abdille's particulars,” Keynan who left ODM and joined Jubilee claimed.

Abdullahi is expected to respond to the allegation at a press conference in Wajir on June 22.
