Homa Bay governor Cyprian Awiti has been dealt a blow after one of the candidates he had proposed to join County Executive Committee (CeC) rejected the offer.
Alphonse Wera, who had been nominated to lead the Energy docket, refused to take the job offer and skipped the swearing-in ceremony, saying that he is not qualified. The nominee said that he cannot take up the job because he will not only be undermining his integrity but also going against the will of his people. He had applied for the post of CeC trade only to be nominated to head the energy docket. “Accepting to serve in a department where I lack professional qualification would undermine my integrity and disappoint the people of Homa Bay,” Wera said.Wera decision comes after Members of the county assembly led by majority leader Richard Ogindo said that all the approved nominees were qualified to take up the job offers. The nominees who took the oath of office include Dickson Nyawinda (Water ), Roselyn Odhiambo (Tourism), Aguko Juma (Agriculture) and Beatrice Asiago (Education). The others were David Okeyo (Roads), Richard Muga (Health), Nicholas Koriko (Finance), Carelus Ademba (Trade), Beatrice Ogola (Lands).
