Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka on Saturday faced tough moments as angry mourners demanded that he decamps Jubilee for Cord.
Lusaka who was addressing mourners at the late Jacob Juma’s home was persistently jeered with the crowd visibly angered with his political affiliations.
When allowed to speak, Lusaka avoided politics and instead urged leaders to work together as a team to develop the region.
“I have brought my sincere condolences to the family and I don’t want to engage in politics because this isn’t the right place to do that,” he said.
“As leaders let’s work for our people first and the issue of parties comes later. This is time for development and not politics of rhetoric,” he said amidst jeers from a charging crowd.
Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi warned him for a ‘political’ shock if he continues to work with the Jubilee government.
“Mr Governor your people doesn’t want you in that wrong government. You will be in for a political shock if you continue working with Jubilee," said Wamunyinyi.
"The mood here is very clear that you have to join Cord or otherwise we send you home,” he said.
Mr Lusaka is a key member of the Eugene Wamalwa-led New Ford Kenya and he has been closely working with Jubilee administration from the region.
