The governor said that consumption of alcohol in the county has greatly hindered development of various sectors in the region.

“I am calling upon the law enforcers and the Provincial Administration to help us crack down on alcohol menace that is threatening our development as Nyamira County,” said Nyagarama.

Governor Nyagarama said that excessive drinking of the illicit brew is rampant in the county and has ruined the lives of innocent and promising youths as many turn to the drink instead of engaging in income generating activities.

The governor called on the police, the chiefs and the entire provincial administration to arrest all the people involved in operating the illegal illicit brew businesses.

“Our children are highly affected by the chang’aa in our villages instead of engaging in self-developing activities,” he said.
