Nairobi governor Mike Sonko earlier this week moved in to compensate victims of looting and vandalism that happened a fortnight ago when NASA leader Raila Odinga returned to the country from the US.

Sono visited the victims at Shauri Moyo and Burma market and gave  them a cash donation of Sh1.2 million as part of his efforts to soften the Sh5 million losses recorded.

"Nairobi City County Governor H.E Mike Mbuvi Sonko today donated Ksh. 1.2m to 49 Burma Shauri Moyo, Jogoo Road small-scale traders who incurred over Ksh. 5m loss after their businesses were looted by rowdy National Resistance Movement demonstrators during last Friday’s riots as they welcomed home NASA leader Raila Odinga at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport," he posted on his official Facebook page.

Speaking on behalf of the  victims,  Ochudo Achieng’, a shop owner at Burma, thanked Sonko for the donation regardless of their ethnic or political backgrounds.
