Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has condemned the fracas witnessed in the county assembly on Tuesday and asked Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to respect each other.
The governor said that fracas has tainted the image of the county negatively and that they must now to restore the county’s image.
Speaking in Elburgon town on Thursday, Mbugua said that it was unnecessary for MCAs to fight in the full glare of the cameras and the public.
“Our image has been tainted and we must now strategise on how to restore it,” said Mbugua.
He urged MCAs to be patient with each and adopt dialogue as a way of conflict resolution.
Mbugua further urged MCAs to focus on passing laws and policies that will support development instead of fighting. He noted that it is time leaders took their work with the seriousness it deserves adding that they will be answerable to the people.
Mbugua at the same time challenged Elburgon women to take up leadership positions and contribute towards development. He said women have been empowered urging them to make good use of the government opportunities.
He said his government will remain committed to promote the welfare of women in Nakuru.
The governor added that his government will invest in modern firefighting and disaster response equipment.
He said that his government has started procurement of modern fire equipment to save property and lives during fire outbreaks.
The governor also said that more county staff will be trained on disaster preparedness and rescue operations.
