Mr Abdullahi said those few individuals are looking for other ways to make him look bad but they won’t succeed because the residents in Wajir know what he has done for them in terms of development.

Governor Abdullahi said those MPs who at first supported him wanted him to be corrupt and give them contracts and money but when he refused, they claimed that the governor was mismanaging county funds and not consulting them on development.

“There is no way I could plunder public resources just to satisfy a few individuals. I thank God residents of Wajir are wise and they stood with me, because they knew I meant well for our county,” he said.

Speaking to a local daily, the governor said that his administration had performed well in terms of initiating development projects despite many challenges.

Mr Abdullahi further dismissed claims that the opposition has lost popularity in the area after many elected MPs decamped to Jubilee saying the residents are still behind the opposition come the August polls.

“We have drilled 152 boreholes, tarmacked 28km of roads, constructed an international abattoir, built 47 maternity wings and equipped all the sub county hospitals,” Abdullahi said as quoted by The Star.
