Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi has dispelled claims that the county has ghost workers on its payroll.
According to Cheboi, his administration has both permanent and contract workers who have all been captured by the county.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Maisha on Wednesday, Cheboi disputed the Auditor General's report that there were ghost workers in the county.
"There are no ghost workers in Baringo County. The county has both permanent and contract workers who have been captured by the county government. The idea that there are ghost workers in Baringo is unfounded," the governor added.
He further dispelled claims by the Auditor General that there was money not captured by the county's expenditure.
According to Cheboi, the Sh273 million being claimed was lost had been used to pay county workers.
"The Auditor General has not captured the county government's expenditure properly. The money claimed that was lost was however used to pay county workers. There is no money lost at Baringo County and that is it," added Cheboi.
