The Marsabit county government has donated relief food to flood victims.
According to Daily Nation, the county government donated 70 bags of sugar, 430 bales of maize flour, 260 bags of rice, cooking oil, beans, milk, maize, wheat flour, salt and soap to the residents following the heavy rains that have been pounding the region in the past week.
Speaking after donating the food, Governor Ali said that the county government is committed to ensuring that the residents do not languish because of the lack of food following the calamity that has hit the region. The county government is working in collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross and National Government to ensure that the flood victims have reasons to smile again."Today we have only visited Mountain, Dakabaricha, Jirime, and Nagayo of Marsabit Central and my deputy is in Olom with the rescue team. However, all affected families will be reached," he said, as quoted by the local daily. The donation comes after two girls were killed by floods in the county. Leaders in the region have called upon different parties to assist in the fight against the floods that have hit the areas. Several residents have been forced to relocate to safe areas following the onset of the heavy rains in the county.
