Mr Mbugua was responding to former National Transport and Safety Authority chairman, Lee Kinyanjui’s, claim that voter registration in Nakuru County had been hampered by water shortage.

“There is a water shortage in various parts of the country due to drought. Nobody should use that as a political campaign tool,” he said.

Governor Mbugua said only 15 per cent of residents are affected by water rationing introduced by companies in the county.

Several parts of the country including Turkana, West Pokot, Wajir, Garissa, Marsabit, Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet counties are facing a severe drought that has led to water shortages and death of animals.
