Lamu Governor Issa Timamy will face an uphill task as he seeks to defend his seat in the forthcoming general election after a section of Coast tycoons unveiled their plans to smoke him out of office. Former East African Legislative Assembly member Mohamed Zubeid, and Mohamed Jaffer the founder of the Grain Bulk Handlers have joined hands to support Wiper’s governor candidate Swaleh Imu in the August polls. Timamy will have to pitch tents in different parts of the county to woo residents to support his re-election bid.The businessmen, through the Jaffer Foundation donated Sh5 million and the Lamu East Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Sh10 million to construct a dormitory and administration block at Lady Fatma Pate Girls Secondary on Thursday last week, the Standard reports.Hassan Albeity, who has declared interest in the county's senatorial seat, said several politicians have pledged to work together to unseat Timamy on August 8.“Two gubernatorial candidates shared a platform during the function because the main objective is to dislodge governor Timamy from power,” said Albeity, as quoted by the Standard. Jubilee Fahim Twaha has also declared interest in the county’s top seat.
