Tana River Governor Hussein Dado has asked doctors in the county not to down their tools again in protest of salaries, job promotions or working conditions, arguing that their welfare has been improved.Speaking at Hasako village in Bura Constituency on Saturday, the county boss, who will be defending his seat in the forthcoming polls, said his government will pay the doctors for the 100 days they were on strike. He, however, cautioned the doctors that his administration will not be scared with their fresh threats to go on strike.“We have no intention to punish our doctors for taking part in the recent strike and that is why we paid them even when they were not working," he said. The governor also said his government and the national government are committed towards improving the welfare of the doctors, adding that they have no valid reason to strike. "I wish to make it clear to them that we will not accept any further strike that would affect our efforts to provide quality health care to our people. We will be forced to sack them and hire foreign ones," said Dado.
