Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has formed a task force to deal with the challenges facing the health sector in the county. The committee will be tasked with ensuring smooth running of services as nurses continue their push for the implementation of their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Addressing journalists at his office in Wundanyi, Samboja assured the nurses that there will be a satisfactory solution to their grievances despite threats to sack them after the court declared their strike illegal. The county boss said he met the nurses and they discussed several issues relating to their work.“We had a good meeting with the nurses’ union officials and resolved to work on a number of issues. They range from the working environment, allowances, and promotions, among other things,” said Samboja, as quoted by The Star.The committee, which will be headed by Sylvester Mwaliko, is expected to commence work immediately.Other members of the committee will include the county chief officer for Health, county executives for Finance and Health and three members from the Kenya National Union of Nurses.Samboja assured residents that the county government is working towards ensuring the striking nurses resume work.
