In a motion presented to the house on Friday, 32 out of the 46 MCAs present voted for the exit of Gachagua.

Following recent information from the controller showing that over Sh800 million from the last financial year could not be accounted for, the MCAs had gone ahead to seek the governors explanation.

They also accused the governor of using a dictatorial system of governance after Gachagua failed to show up for questioning over the expenditure of the county.

The MCAs also lamented over the governor's refusal to assent to the 2016/2017 Finance Bill.

Led by Majority Leader Duncan Gituanja, they said that they were not going to backtrack on their move as they had enough evidence for Gachagua's impeachment.

“All we want is to remove Nyeri from the slavery of Gachagua,” said Gituanja.

The impeachment now awaits being passed or rejected by the Senate.
