Embattled Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has got a rare backing from a section of youths from Kitutu Masaba constituency.
The constituency is perceived to be critical to his regime and efforts to extend a hand for support from the region had been thwarted by the governor’s critics, particularly Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire.
But on Sunday, during the launching of the One Hen programme in Gesima ward, a section of the youths led by aspiring MCA Timothy Omariba threw their weight behind the governor and accused his opponents of being ‘myopic’ and power hungry.
“The intrigues in the county government are not good at all. The governor is doing his job and we have seen that through supporting of youths, agriculture and education. Moreover, we have several passable roads and that is a boost to the agricultural county like Nyamira,” he said.
He vowed to marshal youths across the county to thwart propaganda being disseminated by Nyagarama’s critics if the opponents continued to drag the county behind development with their persistent politicking.
“We are not in elections and people must understand that. It is improper to mislead residents by disseminating lies. We will revolt that in style and the Governor’s critics must find a better way to approach issues,” Omariba added.
The county government of Nyamira had recently come under immense criticism with a faction led by Senator Kennedy Okong’o pushing for his removal by launching signature collection based on alleged corruption and mismanaging.
